Press release – New dates confirmed

The dates for 16th International Peatland Congress are confirmed

We are glad to inform you that the new dates for the 16th International Peatland Congress are 2-7 May 2021. The Congress will take place in the Tallinn Creative Hub.

Estonia has managed the COVID-19 situation well. By now, the emergency restrictions have ended and only some restrictions still apply. In the middle of summer, the country intends to open its borders to tourists from the Schengen area and after that to everybody. Hotels and businesses are open, the restrictions on organising events are lifted gradually but continuously. Therefore, we dare to say today that in a year’s time we will be able to come together to enjoy the Congress without restrictions and in a way that is comfortable and convenient to all participants.

The format of the Congress will remain as planned. Alongside the scientific programme, the IPC2021 will include the Industry Summit, PEAT-talks, excursions and mid-congress fieldtrips, a student programme, exhibition and several social and networking events. The photo contest is up and running and you all have the opportunity to submit your work via the Congress website until the end of March 2021.

All registrations for 2020 that have not been cancelled by the delegates were automatically transferred into next year. Registration for new delegates will open in October 2020.

All hotel bookings made through the Congress accommodation booking system that have not been cancelled by the delegates were automatically transferred into the Congress dates in 2021. As the Congress venue has changed, the Secretariat will contact all delegates with valid accommodation bookings to offer transferring the booking into one of the additional Congress hotels near the new Congress venue.

The abstracts submitted for the 2020 Congress that have been accepted by the Scientific Committee will retain their status for the 2021 Congress. The authors will receive detailed instructions from the Congress Secretariat at the beginning of June in case the authors need to update their short or extended abstracts. The Scientific Committee of IPC2021 has also decided to open additional abstract submission in October 2020. This serves to give new authors the opportunity to present their work at the Congress. Exact guidelines will be published on the Congress website.

We encourage you to stay in touch via the Congress social media and subscribe to the newsletter on the Congress website to receive relevant updates about the Congress.

Stay safe and see you in Estonia next year!
